Singapore - Day off - Jan 15

Front of the Raffles
It's actually halfway pleasant today. Despite the 84 defree tems and the 84 % humidity, the breeze off the South China Sea is kind of nice. Of course, it's going to rain cats and dogs in about a half hour ( I can see it in the straits now) but I can wait that out before I go back out.

It seems I'm getting over my jet lag. I went out to the Singapore Flyer this morning. It's one of the largest if not THE largest Ferris wheels in the world ( 165 Meters High) and according to the narration it's also the luckiest. It has 28 Capsules that hold 18 people each. 8 is the luckiest Chinese number as it's pronunciation in Chinese rhymes with someting really good. I'm glad because I was born on the 8th in 1948 so .......

I have many pictures from that but they are a little dull from the curvature of the glass.

I also went to the Raffles famous Long Bar and had a Singapore Sling. It's worth doing just to say you did it but you don't have to go there twice.

This city has a ton of underground passages and shops that connect the Metro and keep you out of traffic. If you think you have a good sense of direction, put that thought away before you start going down escalators here.

BTW - Scott, I have a special photo for you. You will recognize it.

Ring a (closing) Bell Scott?
